Rex Wood
With a strong background in building and leading teams in IT&T, advertising, marketing and financial services, Rex is experienced in the ongoing requirements of business to be creative, and innovative and agile.
He started life as the son of a South Waikato dairy farmer, milking cows and all doing all that a busy town supply dairy farm requires. It was a terrific grounding and the experience has stood him in good stead, albeit his career hasn’t had him return to farming – yet.
Rex has had 30-plus years’ experience in starting and building businesses and during his time in telecommunications, he led the consortium that became Australia’s newest telecoms infrastructure company, PowerTel.
His expertise has involved leading and developing Sales & Marketing teams, in fast-paced, competitive environments. Developing and implementing unique customer acquisition /servicing strategies using digital capability was a key focus. Later this broadened into product development and senior management roles. On leaving the corporate world, Rex developed and ran his own financial services consultancy for 13 years.
At PHQ Rex is the creative lead on PHQ program development. His breadth of knowledge and experience means he is consistently engaged to mentor and coach senior executives. His business experience and approachability, combined with clear strategic thinking, and practical problem-solving, is what clients find most valuable.
His background allows him to provide a ‘business outcome’ lens to leadership program development, which gives PHQ a competitive edge.
